Daily Reflections: FOLLOW JESUS!

Friday 1st July, 2016

Follow Jesus!
Prophet Amos on delivering his disturbing and true prophecy of the oracle of the divine, condemning the rich and all those who trample on the needy and try to suppress the poor of the country; made known to them that terrible days lie ahead if they do not change for good by coming back to follow the way of the Lord. Their situation then could be likened to the present day Nigeria situation. A country that has been defined as, “systematically corrupt”. When the rich is getting richer and poor, ones poorer at the expense of the corrupt rich and politicians. Peoples world are turning upside down, their joys turning into mourning, their songs turning into dirges and their day turning into night in the name of CHANGE. We pray that God’s word will not disappear from the land with the threat of Islamic Jihad, so that we shall not wander about aimlessly in a great spiritual desert.

Even in this ugly situation God has not abandoned us. Jesus is calling us to come and follow him. Let us give a quick response just like Matthew did. When God calls you, he tells you to follow him. All you need to do is to follow him. When you follow him, he will give you all that you need to overcome your weaknesses. Just follow Jesus. If you follow him he will give you the grace to achieve what you ordinarily cannot achieve. If you follow him, he will make you holy and fill you with strength. He will transform you just as Matthew the tax collector was transformed. To follow means to submit your freedom to Jesus, and allow him run your life for you. We all as individuals and as a country will get it right, if we listen to the Lord’s injunction, “follow me” Matthew 9:9. Ụbọchị ọma.
